If swimming is one of your favorite ways to exercise and you love lounging around the pool, you can get a pool that's great for both. You can get a pool that is powered to help you reach your swimming goals, but you can still use it when you want to get wet on a bright and sunny day.
You'll want to talk with a pool contractor about getting a spa pool that has a current system powered by jets, and that can be placed outside your home. You can even get a unit that is built into the ground. Here are a few things to ask for.
Swimming Current Jets
Get a pool with swimming jets so you can swim in place, fighting the current. This allows you to get a great workout experience, and you don't need to have a lot of space to swim a far distance. You can turn the currents on as strong or low as you want, and there are different wave settings. This is great for people that want to train for a marathon or some sort of swimming competition.
If you are going to have the spa built into the ground see if you can have a tanning area added. This is an area that is only a few inches deep, that you can use when you want to get wet and go for a dip, but you don't want to submerge yourself in water. The tanning area is also great for entertaining.
Ask for a spa that has a heating system so you can use the spa when the temperatures start to drop, and so you can use it more months out of the year if you live in an area where the temperatures get low in winter. You may also want to get a spa that functions like a hot tub and not just a pool.
If you are interested in having your own spa pool so you can train whenever you want, and so you can swim to get a great low impact cardiovascular workout in, talk with the pool contractors in your area to see what your property can hold. The pool contractor will let you know what type of spa you can have put on your property, how big the different spas are, and what the cost is going to be to have the project completed.
